Dr. Madeline Chimka is a Research Associate at HighScope Educational Research Foundation. Previously, she was a Project Manager at the Center for Early Education Research and Evaluation (CEERE) at HighScope. She currently supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of the U.S. Department of Education Investing in Innovation (i3) project. The i3 project enhances the components of the HighScope curriculum that were related to positive lifetime outcomes from the Perry Preschool study and trains and coaches teachers to implement these strategies in their classrooms. She also manages the evaluation of Text and Learn for Kindergarten (TALK), in partnership with Ypsilanti Public Library (YDL).
Dr. Chimka completed her Ed.D. in Education Policy and Leadership at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she previously taught for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her previous research, management, and policy roles focused on community-based participatory methods, wellness programming, and school leadership. She is passionate about equity-driven and developmentally-appropriate programming and policies, sustainable investments in schools and teachers, the symbiotic relationship between health and learning, and strengthening partnerships between research, policy, and practice.
